MothEd

A collaboration between Michigan State University and the Concord Consortium

Promoting student participation in authentic science investigations

MothEd is designed to provide elementary and middle school students the opportunity to shape the scientific practices of their classroom, to survey moth abundance and diversity of their local places, and to inform the ongoing ecological work of entomologists. The Collaborative Learning User Environment (CLUE) supports small group work and allows combining student data to create larger datasets to address students’ research questions further. Using CLUE, students can formulate research questions together, track data on the moths they’ve collected, share data, and learn fundamental skills for working with data in an intuitive online space.
